HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Christmas and everyone is off to a great New Year. Our Chapter is off and running with various Cincinnati A&T Alumni activities for 2010!

First some bad news, we will not host the NC A&T State University Fellowship Gospel Choir on March 7, 2010. Due to a scheduling conflict, the choir opted to compete in a national choir competition in New York. February 25 was the date the choir recommended to have their concert in Cincinnati. This was not a good date for us and declined their invitation. We are most appreciative of Rev. Dr. Elliott Cuff, Senior Pastor of Lincoln Heights Baptist Church in Lincoln Heights, OH and Pastor Norman Blankenship, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Elsmere, KY for agreeing to provide bus transportation sponsorship. The two sponsoring churches withdrew sponsorship because we tentatively set March 7 for the concert and worship service. I want to thank James Allen and Walter Ingram for coordinating with their pastors in negotiating transportation sponsorship. We’re hoping to host the choir either later this year or in the future.

Fortunately, that’s all the bad news! We have our meeting schedule and there are a few months we’re in need of someone to host a meeting. Vacant dates are: May 22, June 26, August 28 and November 6. If you’re interested in hosting a meeting, please contact me at 674-9701.

On December 5, our alumni chapter observed its annual holiday gathering by attending Playhouse in the Park production, “A Christmas Carol.” The following individuals attended: Renita and Reggie Scales, Earnie and Gwen (Jubilee) Womack, Freda and James Allen, Gary and Elnora Holloway and Irv Moore. It was a great play and we enjoyed the fellowship.

Our thanks to the following individuals who donated funds to an “adoptive family” at Shroder Piadia High School: Joe Shives, Gary and Elnora Holloway, Irv Moore, Rickey D. Johnson, and Reggie Scales. Others interested in making a donation can do so at our January meeting.

At our January meeting, we will take nominations for three Alumni Awards and the National Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Don’t forget your 2009 – 2010 dues are now due. The dues invoice is enclosed in this newsletter.

Hope to see everyone on January 23 at my home!
With Aggie Pride, Irv
