February is a short but significant month as we celebrate Black History Month, Valentine’s Day, and Presidents’ Day. I’m already celebrating Presidents’ Day because of Barack Obama as our 44th President of the United States of America!

Our 2009-year got off to a good start as we had our first meeting on January 24th at my home. We had around 15 members present. At this meeting, we donated $200.00 to Next Level Mentoring Program with our own, Walter Ingram, Director. This year his Black College Tour will include a trip to A&T.

Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will host the Great Lakes Regional Conference here in Cincinnati, OH, April 23-26, 2009. An invitation is extended to all at the Public Meeting on Friday evening at the Duke Energy Center, downtown Cincinnati. We purchased an ad in their souvenir booklet. Aggies who are members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority include Staici Goins, Jameika Sampson, Gerilyn Sampson, Deborah Sampson, and Gwen Womack. Melanie Womack, daughter of Gwen and Ernie Womack, as well as Yenetta Harper, wife of Aggie Gerald Harper are also members.

I will host our February 28 meeting at my home but Arnold Mungin will provide funds for the food. (I wonder what I’m going to serve? It will not be spaghetti – whew).

Please be reminded that your 2008/2009 dues are due. Dues invoice is included in this newsletter.
